What are your opinions about this particular film? Give us your own insight! But please, take care of these simple rules first:
~ Don't be rude. If I think your review is inappropriate, I won't add it, simple as that.
~ No swearing. This is basically the same as the 'don't be rude' rule. We're not here to slam anyone.
~ Please keep in mind that this is an Eric Idle site. Sure, you're giving a review on the film, and that's great, but please don't go on and on about a different actor or actress throughout your review. For example, don't blab on about how John was so superb as the black knight and as the French taunter in Holy Grail, etc., as we'd much rather focus on Eric's traits in the film, and the overall storyline, appearance, and entertainment quality of the film itself. However, that being said, you are more than welcome to talk about Eric's role(s) as much as you like!

Synopsis:
This live-recorded Gilbert and Sullivan opera is a romantic comedy about a young couple in love. However, things are slightly difficult for them, as it has been decreed that anyone who flirts or shows signs of affection shall die. Ko-Ko, also in love with the young woman, has been reprieved from his execution in favor of becoming the new high executioner, but now is set with the task of having to execute someone or else be killed himself. Mainly told in song, The Mikado is both touching and humorous.
Diane's Review:
Quite out of the ordinary when it comes to works of Eric's, The Mikado is a great watch, especially if you enjoy singing and dancing. The enriched talent of the ensemble cast makes for an excellent opera production, with Eric being the icing on the cake. The story itself is one far more low-key and can be seen as boring to some, but if you appreciate good theatre pieces, then you're in for a treat. Even though Eric's voice doesn't quite match up to that of the rest of the cast, he still does a fine job, and yes, even dances, all done up in a ridiculous wig and makeup. His sarcastic side shows through in his portrayal of Ko-Ko, and his energy is rather high. But setting Eric aside, the movie as a whole is fun and uplifting, with an amusing tale to boot.
