It might sound like we stole the name from Pythonline- and we did.  The SPAM Club was just a great name for a group of people who are devoted to Eric Idle and Monty Python.  The original idea to start the Idleized Heaven SPAM Club came from the fact that the Pythonline SPAM Club was a bit of a... *cough*... dud.  They did absolutely nothing except allow you to sign up.  You might receive an email once every year or so.  Very thrilling.  So to liven things up a bit, I created our SPAM Club which is an active group for fans of all ages all over the world.
The first year in the running, our SPAM Club didn't do so bad of a job of saying who we were.  We gained our first 25 members.  Then Eric announced, much to our glee, that he was going on tour from October-December of 2003.  About eight of our members got to go and see the show.  Others sent in small gifts and letters of appreciation which were put into a giant navy blue SPAM tote bag.  On December 16th this bag was presented to Mr. Idle in person and every member who included their home address received replies to their letters.
Since then we've welcomed many new members (and have reached our two-hundredth mark) but have been fairly quiet.  After the news of Eric's leg injury, we worked on a new project called "Get Well Soon Eric" which wasn't as successfull as we had hoped.  We now have had some oppurtunies showing our SPAM pride at Eric's Broadway hit musical of SPAMALOT, which many members have attended (and loved).
Our current project is Tell Us Your Story, where you can tell us your very own Eric/SPAM story- whether it be how you were first mesmerized by Eric, laughing at the hilarities of SPAMALOT, or meeting the man himself!  Don't be shy- it's your turn to shine as a fan!
Hallo and welcome to Idleized Heaven's very own SPAM Club! This is a special group of people and friends who get together to share their adoration for Eric Idle (or if you just plainly have a burning devotion to SPAM...).  We'd love to have you join us!  SPAM Club members get exclusives throughout the site, such as emailed news and updates, Adopt-An-Eric, access into virtual parties, and, most importantly, club events.  Here at the SPAM Club you can kick off your shoes, relax, and forget about the troublesome worries of reality.  So what are you waiting for?  Dive in and help us waste time and have a blast by doing completely silly things!
But how exactly do you join?  Simple!  Just fill out the form below with your information and a request to become a member!  And also, DO NOT FORGET to join the mailing list because it is the hub center for all club news and activities!  That's all there is to it!
Also, if you're a current member and some of your information, such as your email, has changed, you can also use the form to update your info.  Just make sure to state that you're already a member and who you are.

Favorite Eric Movies:  Splitting Heirs and Missing Pieces
About Me:  Hallo, my name is Diane, and I am your obsessed Webmistress!!!  I love Eric in every aspect and feature, especially his hair, eyes, and voice.  I must say though, from personal experience, he gives delicious hugs too!  *grin*  Contrary to most Eric fans, I like Eric best as he is now rather than 30 years ago.  I also love Eric because he is not only a talented actor, singer, and composer, and  writer, but is intelligent and wise and believes in many of the same things I do.  Also, his journal was the most fascinating thing I've ever read, and Spamalot was my first-ever Broadway play and it took my breath away.  Besides Eric, I enjoy writing, roller-blading, acting, bowling, working on the Internet, and theme parks.
Name: Danita Sönser
From: Waterloo Ontario, Canada
Favorite Eric Characters: Gaston; Brian Hope; Dibs; Fairy Godmother
Favorite Eric Movie: Nuns on the Run; The Meaning of Life
About Me: The first Eric movie I ever saw was "Casper," and that is when I first became a fan. As I grew older, I watched "Nuns on the Run," and "The Meaning of Life," and had no doubts that Eric Idle was my favorite comedian. When I first discovered that Eric was coming to my area for "The Greedy Ba$tard Tour" I totally went crazy. I just HAD to go, and I did. What was even better about the whole thing is that I actually met him; shook his hand; and got his autograph. All for my 16th birthday. Ever since this extraordinary moment in my life, I have had the passion to draw Eric, listen to Elena's "Rutland Isles" CD, and read one of my most beloved novels, "The Road to Mars."
Name: Elena Sönser
From: Waterloo Onatrio, Canada
Favorite Eric Characters: Brian Hope; Nigel Spasm; Gaston
Favorite Eric Movie: The Meaning of Life
About Me: I'm 18 years old and I am a high school student, and part time University of Waterloo Student. Aside from performing my research, I'm learning German, one of my favorite past times is admiring one of my favorite actors Eric Idle. Like Danita, I first began liking him after seeing "Casper," and when my best friend told me Eric was coming to town, I knew I had to go; especially after seeing "The Meaning of Life," and "Nuns on the Run." My most prized possessions are my Eric Idle autograph, and memories of that night. Presently, I am religiously listening to the "Rutland Isles" and satisify my Eric needs through "The Road to Mars".
Name: Chris
From: Brooklyn NYC
Favorite Eric Characters: Sir Robin (Monty Python and the Holy Grail), Mr. Walters (Interesting People), Stan a.k.a. Loretta (Monty Python's Life of Brian)
Favorite Eric Movie: Life of Brian
About Me: I have been a huge Monty Python's Flying Circus fan since my sophomore year of high school.  Eric was my favorite out of the bunch, because I thought he was sooooo adorable -- AND he was the first one that I officially could remember his name out of the entire group.  Other things that I do:  full-time college student majoring in communications with concentrations in film and broadcasting (perhaps corporate as well).  I own my own website domain, which needs to be updated...  www.extremelydifferent.com.  Aside from Monty Python, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and Severus Snape is my favorite character.
Name: Frick
From: The "Garden State"... ok, New Jersey
Favorite Eric Characters: Eric the Guard, Berthold
Favorite Eric Movie: iiiieeee I have to choose just one? ok, ummm... Baron Munchausen
About Me: Ok, last summer (2003) I did this thing where I would rent random videos and cd's, etc. to kind of 'enhance' my knowledge of useless crap. ANYWAY, I rented 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'... but let me go further back, that wasn't my first encounter with his Idleness. My friend Rion and I rented 'Life of Brian' for who knows why, but we loved it and I thought that the 'womb in a box' comment was the funniest thing in the world. That was about 4 years ago, so flash forward to 2003 (gee, it would have been better if I started out with the latter eh?) I stumbled upon this little site to find out about the Greedy Bastard Tour... and well, I think you can figure out the rest. Now, about me lol. I'm a freakishly obsessively clingy person. I have many interests/ obsessions, but the one that's topping the list is David Bowie. Besides Eric and Bowie I love Horror movies, Star Trek, X-Files, books (any kind), vintage clothing, 8-Tracks, Vinyl, and pretty much anything pre-1990...

About Me: Lessee... I was first introduced to Eric through Monty Python, just like many others, when I was 11 or so. He was always my favorite. I really began to get into him when we got BBC America on
Demand and I could watch Flying Circus whenever I wanted. From there, I began to look into other works of Ericness and here I am- obsessed and proud! Hahaha. I also like The Beatles and just about anything 60s related. I've also played the piano since I was 6 and I'm really into acting and am in drama club. And oh yes, I like penguins.

Favorite Eric Idle Characters: Bruce the Philosopher
Favorite Eric Movie: Monty Python Live At The Hollywood Bowl
About Me: I'm 16 years old and I'm living in Germany near Hamburg. I mean, I normally do, but I'm currently in France on an exchange program. Ok, what do you have to know about me? I'm German but I don't like drinking beer nor eating sauerkraut! ;-) I speak English and French (and German, naturally), and a few words of Croatian and Italian. My hobbies are playing volleyball, reading, the "Matrix", and watching the Flying Circus!

From: Las Vegas, Nevada (No, I don’t gamble all day long.)
Favorite Eric Idle Characters: Concorde, Roger the Shrubber, Brother Maynard (All Holy Grail), Mr. Cheeky (Life Of Brian), and the Naughty Storytime Reader (Flying Circus)
Favorite Eric Movie: Holy Grail (obviously), but there’s no such thing as a bad Eric movie!
About me: I’ve been a Python fan since 1982 when an ex-girlfriend introduced me to the lads (she liked Cleese, what did she know). I’ve enjoyed all of Eric’s films over the years and was excited when I heard that he was coming to Vegas for the Greedy Ba$tard tour. I laughed so hard when he did the Getty song. I used to live near the Getty and he nailed the attitude of the place perfectly. I mentioned as much to him after the show and he was nice enough to talk to me about the Getty and what I thought of his show for several minutes, making everyone in line behind me wait (he was so nice).

Favorite Eric Idle Characters:  Mr. Cheeky (Life of Brian), Naughty Storytime Reader (Flying Circus)
Favorite Movies:  Splitting Heirs, Meaning of Life, Life of Brian, oh yeah, and every other movie he's been in.
About Me:  What can I say? I'm Frank Mosca, creator of the Spam Cake. I've been watching  flying Circus since I was five or six,  and John Cleese and Eric Idle have just struck me as extremely funny.  Each of of Eric's movies have been very enjoyable to me, so it makes it hard to choose favorites.  Although I have never seen him live, hopefully I'll get the chance someday soon.

Favourite Eric Characters: Which one isn't a favorite? I also like Eric as himself.
Favourite Eric Movies: Umm... all of them- can I say that?
About Me: Hello everyone! Well first, if you're wondering about the name JGTMTE, it's a Monty Python club I made (John, Graham, Terry, Michael, Terry, Eric). My hobbies
are watching comedy movies or shows with groups & people like Monty Python, Peter Cook, Dudely Moore, Tim Brooke-Taylor, and heaps more. I also like to play the guitar, skateboard (old skool always!), embarrassing myself... oh, and annoying people! I'm good at that one. I've never seen Eric live (nobody comes to Adelaide... not a lot of people anyway), but I tried saving up some of money to go to NY and see SPAMALOT. (I saved up no more than $30.) ERIC IDLE FOREVER!

Favorite Eric Characters: Hell's Grannies Analyst (Something Completely Different), Naughty Storytime Reader (Flying Circus), any anchor/analyst, but
especially Arrested Newsreader (Flying Circus)
Favorite Eric Movies: And Now For Something Completely Different, The Meaning Of Life, The Rutles
About Me: From the age of six/seven, I watched Flying Circus avidly. I was immediately drawn to Eric, particularly when he portrayed news anchors or
analysts... he had a sly, quiet demeanor on Flying Circus, but he always managed to bowl me over with laughter. Those first memories are what turned me into the Eric fan that I am today. Other than that,
I'm majoring in interior design, I play and listen to music almost all hours of the day, and I love anything that is satirical, sarcastic, or just plain silly!

Favorite Eric Characters: Timmy Williams, Sir Robin, Commander Clement, and Bruce
Favorite Eric Movie: Yellowbeard
About Me: Let me think way back, oh yes! I was first introduced to Monty Python at the tender age of 7. My sister came back from a trip and told about this great movie she watched that I HAD to see, which was The Holy Grail. So we rented it, and being only 7, didn’t understand a lot of things they said or did, so I hated it! Then when I was about 12, I began to watch Monty Python’s Flying Circus and found it hilarious! Then my sister told me they had a few movies as well, so we rented those and one of them was The Holy Grail! I was thrilled, but yet so confused as to why I had hated such a glorious movie! And I have never been the same since! Anyway, I like to draw, sing, play my guitar, and do stand up! I also like to rock out with my totally fresh band, The Hourglass. I wanted to call ourselves The Eric Idles, but I was out-voted =D I have many many obsessions, but I’ll give you the top four. The Zelda Series, Eric Idle, The Phantom of the Opera, and Nightmare Before Christmas!

Favorite Eric Character: Arthur Nudge (Nudge Nudge Sketch)
Favorite Eric Movie: I love all of them, but I will ALWAYS love The Wind In The Willows!
About Me: Well, what can I say? I'm a hippy  (or I try to be). I play the guitar, I'm 13, I'm a brunette, and I'm a cheeky, dirty, hard-core, hard-boiled, outgoing, silly wild thing! I only discovered Eric Idle and Monty Python a few weeks ago. People say I'm strange because I love Eric, but what is there not to love? I mean, really? They're strange... I'm waiting for a letter back from Mr. Idle and am hopelessly jealous of everyone goes to see "SPAMALOT"! In my picture, I'm holding a tin of SPAM, but I don't know if I have the guts to try it...?

Favorite Eric Characters: Berthold, Commander Clement, and Sir Robin
Favorite Eric Movie: The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Yellowbeard, and The Holy Grail
About Me: Well there really isn't much about me so I'll try to sum up my life. I've been an Eric Idle fan since I was a little girl, like around the age of 6. I always have loved Monty Python. I grew up loving the show, so I extended my fandom by watching other movies that Eric made. Baron Munchausen is my absolute favorite Eric movie. I LOVE Berthold! He's just a character that you can truly love. He also had pretty hair when he was younger, but that's not the point though. I also love Alan Rickman and Duran Duran. Those three are what completes my life- besides Star Wars. Well any way, I spend most of life painting and drawing; I love the taste of modern art.

Favorite Eric Movies: Holy Grail, Nuns on the Run, Meaning Of Life, Baron Munchausen
About Me: Well, I've been a Python fan for quite a number of years now.  I had the pleasure of seeing Eric, and the Terry's at a press conference at the Museum of Broadcasting in NYC.  They are quite the improvers!  I also was lucky enough to see his "Exploit" tour at Carnegie Hall. But I think my most cherished memory was shooting the "Life Of Python" video for Tiger Television.  Yep!  You heard me!  I am first crazed female fan from the left.  My ex-boyfriend played the lumberjack.  If you don't own the DVD, I highly suggest it.  In my spare time I like surfing the net, eBaying, and watching television.  I have 2 kitties and a 3-legged Chihuahua.  I also like listening to music from Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Pink Floyd.

About Me: I just recently discovered Python and have been bitten by the Idle bug. I'm twenty years old and have been spending my hard-earned money on a bunch of Eric stuff. I simply adored 'The Greedy Bastard Diary' and am reading 'The Rutland Dirty Weekend Book' (which is a must). Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Idle but, hopefully someday... Anywho, I have a pitbull named Chester, and aside from Eric, I'm obsessed with the anime Lupin the 3rd and Nigel from Crossing Jordan. I love to read and listen to music.

My Favorite Eric Movie: Monty Python's The Meaning of Life
About Me: I am seventeen and a Senior in high school. I fell in love with Eric when I was in 7th grade when we watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail on a school trip. Eric is a total genius! (And, to be honest, he doesn't look too bad either!) None of my friends can figure out my obsession with all things Eric and Monty Python, though. And that's about it.

About Me: Okay, well... I'm currently 18 and still waiting for an
unexpected Spanish Inquisition. I have never had the pleasure of being in the company of that greedy bastard-- I mean, Eric Idle, and it is only extreme luck that will bring such an experience to me. I've been a Python fan for about two days. No... Wait... It's been longer, I just can't remember how long. What attracted me was Eric's fluffy hair... Or was it his singing? Anyway. I absolutely adore the man, his silly (and occasionally very naughty) tunes, and his sense of humor. He and the other men of Monty Python fixed making me completely crazy.

Favorite Eric Movie: The Rutles
About Me: I'll be 18 on February 22nd and am currently studying for my A-levels.  I became an Idle fan last year when my mate Ash forced the Python films upon me (which was best thing she ever did). We then bought the series and spent the majority of the summer quoting and singing the song, often very loud and in public when possible. And what can be said for the man himself? Well, not everyone can parody the biggest band the world, and has ever seen or write a sketch with a character that speaks entirely in anagrams! On a final note, my present off my parents this year is a tattoo of a flowery Python emblem.

About Me:  I'm seventeen, and I have been a fan of Eric's since I was four or five.  I used to watch The Holy Grail and the Upperclass Twit Of The Year Sketch all the time.  I still love Eric, and I can't wait to see Spamalot. I'll be attending the State University of New York at Oneonta in the fall for fashion design, and will going to school in London in 2008.

Favorite Eric Movie: Monty Python & The Holy Grail
About Me: I'm a twenty-year-old geek. I have been an Idle fan since I was fourteen and got made fun of a lot at school because of my unsual obsession. That, however, did not lessen my love for Eric. Otherwise, I am currently engaged (unfortunatley, not to Eric Idle) and live with my fiance.
Name: Amanda

Favorite Eric Character:  Eh, who cares Eric is sexy no matter what he plays.  I really like Sir Robin though.
Favorite Eric Movie:  Monty Python And The Holy Grail
About Me: Anyway, I'm 18.  I still get children's menus at restaurants, and I love talented British guys (it's a weakness).  I remember that the first time I saw Eric in the Holy Grail, I just thought he was brilliant.  (Not to mention wicked sexy.) I spend my days watching British comedy, writing comedy, listening to Broadway musicals, singing, blasting politically incorrect songs in my car, and opening the windows all the way.  (Oh, at camp this summer I played the pointed stick man.)  I saw Spamalot a few weekends ago.  I practially died.  It combined all my favorite things, Eric, British comedy, musicals, and politically incorrect things.  My aspirations for the future are to be in Spamalot (even though I'm too short and white to play Lady of the Lake).  See you all on Broadway!

Favorite Eric Movies: And Now for Something Completely Different, Monty Python And The Holy Grail.
About Me: After much persuasion and endless procrastination, I have just recently seen Monty Python And The Holy Grail, which really started it all. After seeing that, I was hooked and borrowed the entire collection of Flying Circus from a friend. Eric Idle immediately surfaced as one of my favourites. I am fifteen years old and I live in West Lafayette, though I have just recently moved from Edinburgh. I like being random and publishing random websites. When I'm not watching the telly or on the computer, I enjoy fencing and several types of martial arts.

Favorite Eric Characters: Blackitt, Commander Clement, Stan, Roger the Shrubber, Mad Jailer, Dirk McQuigley, Gaston, Arthur Nudge, Self Defence Student (Pointy Sticks), Dead Collector, Marriage Counsellor, & Bike Rider From European Vaction
Favorite Eric Movies: The Meaning Of life, Life Of Brian, Nuns on the Run, & Splitting Heirs.
About Me: Well, what can I say? Eric is bloody funny! I was first introduced to him when I was about 4 feet 5 inches tall. I saw him in The Life of Brain and he is hiliarious; I had stinches in my sides (because I had previously fell of the roof-terrible accident). But I love how Eric can write such witty songs, especially the Galaxy Song. I haven't seen him live but would LOVE to do so. So in Conclusion I say ELDI CIRE EVOL I!!!

Favorite Eric Characters: I love all of them, but Berthold and Arthur Nudge are tied for the number position. And of course, Eric is always my favorite when he's just being Eric.
Favorite Eric Movies: The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Holy Grail, Nuns on the Run
About Me: I am 16 going on 17, a senior in high school. I fell in love with Eric Idle and Monty Python sometime when I was a wee lassie. I used to watch PBS and all the British comedies, and my love for the wit and humor began. My Monty Python continued onward with full force, and soon spread to a majority of my friends who are all fans as well. I nearly died of joy when my mom told me that Eric Idle was coming to New Haven, and I was so excited to go. We went, it was amazing, and I got my shirt signed by Eric, but was unable to have a normal conversation, seeing as I couldn't use the English language to any extent other than "Yeah..." 'cause I'm stupidly shy.  I also fell in love with and went crazy over SPAMALOT, as I'm a huge theatre geek, and nothing pleased me more than to know that my favorite thing would be playing on Broadway and in a musical fashion. Lately my love of Eric has grown ever since I read The Greedy Bastard Diary, it made me laugh a lot and made me want to Eric to be my best friend, but alas, no such luck!

Favorite Eric Characters: I love Dibs, Ian, Bruce, School-boy Eric, and many, many more.
Favorite Eric: Movies: The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Casper.
About Me: I'm 14 and addicted to this beautiful Brit. I became addicted a few months ago and have only come to love him more. The first Eric movie I saw was Casper. It was a favorite of mine when I was little, but at that point I didn't care about actors. I then started watching Flying Circus a few months ago and was instantly addicted. It wasn't until I saw the first three episodes that I realized my terrible crush on Eric. It's tragic really that not many people my age like him, but that means we get him to ourselves! *wink wink* Cheers to all who share in my admiration!

Favorite Eric Characters: Jailer's Assistant, Marriage Guidance Counsellor, and Dr. Vosknocker
Favorite Eric Movies: All movies with Eric are my favourite Eric movie. Ella Enchanted is good, though.
About Me: I found out about Eric when I watched Monty Python's Flying Circus. I havent met Eric, but I've written to him. Yay. I am a true aspiring actress, and am bit of a music freak. I have been playing softball for ten years. I hope you'll see me in the movies soon, and I dont really know what else to say. All Hail Eric!
Name: Lindsey

Favorite Eric Characters: So hard to choose. Probably anyone he played during the Python days, Dibs, Tommy, and Brian Hope.
Favorite Eric Movies: Anything Python, Splitting Heirs, and Nuns On The Run.
About Me: I first saw Eric when I was in jr. high and watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail for the first time. My Python obsession then began to grow from there. Eric was my favorite from the very beginning. I started learning more and more about him. The more I learned, the more I loved about him. That love is now an obsession. Every time I see him, hear him, or even just catch any mention of him, I make this odd sort of "squeeee" noise. I could go on forever about Eric, but I'll make a long story short: Eric is a god.

Ellen DeGeneres and Sara Ramirez are my favorite girls. I want to be the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot. I love guys that are either Jewish, actors, Hispanic, British, on Broadway, or all of the above them together. Also, I adore the British!

Anyway, Eric is my favourite Python followed closely by Michael and bringing up the rear is Gilliam. I am hoping to see Spamalot on May 15th, my birthday. I play bass guitar but I’m not that good. I have been a Python fan for 6 months and I will LOVE Python till the day I die! Anyway I better stop writing ‘cause you are all getting bored and well I have wasted 5 minutes of your life by making you read this but I have wasted 10 minutes of my life writing this…  Damn.

Favorite Eric Movies: All Of The Python Films
About Me: Well, Monty Python's Flying Circus has been in my life since I was little.  We used to listen to my Dad's old records, like Matching Tie and Handkerchief. Then, a couple of months ago, I found Monty Python and the Holy Grail on Youtube.  This sparked the idea that I should look for more Monty Python videos.  I soon found many videos of a lot of the old sketches from Monty Python's Flying Circus!  From my character list, you can probably see I am basically an Eric fan through Monty Python.  He's just so adorable and hilarious!  My weakness for guys is their sense of humor, a main reason I have fallen for Eric Idle! I am 19 and I have a twin sister.  We get along great, and we're convinced we should've been born in the 50's or 60's so we could have had gone to see Monty Python at the Hollywood Bowl, or just plain witnessed the whole craze first-hand!  We're going to someday live in England and visit Scotland to see the castles that were used in filming Holy Grail.  I am planning on studying film editing and acting in college as I would love a career as a famous actress, but I'd settle for editing big blockbuster movies!  Hey, maybe I'll get the chance to work with Eric Idle!  I love acting and I love my friends.

Favorite Characters: Kenny Lust, Mr. Smoketoomuch, Rita Fairbanks, Stan/Loretta, Koko
Favorite Movies: Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, Nuns on the Run, The Mikado.
About Me: Well, I'm Sara, and Eric has been my favourite Python ever since I knew what Python was (around age 7). I love his style of verbal humour, and, let's face it, he always plays the best woman! I'm currently finishing off my undergraduate studies in Fine Art History, and am not really sure what to do afterwards. I'll probably just relax for a bit and then do a post-graduate program in publishing or something like that. I'm a huge animal lover and have 5 dogs, all rescues, and all beautiful. I have a strong passion for French literature, baroque/impressionist art, and cinema. I like to take photographs, write, and collect postcards.
