Well, sadly, *sniff* the Greedy Bastard Tour and journal is over. (Damnit.) I don't know about you, but I believe that I can call the show a success. It was very brilliantly done, very entertaining, and quite funny. HOWEVER, as I've said on the main page, Mr. Peter Crabbe said to me that there is a possibility that the tour will continue this spring and visit either the southern states or maybe even Australia. Well, we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed, now, won't we? ;) For now though, Mr. Idle is happily back at home in LA with Tania, Lilly, Wee, and their two dogs. He's free from fans for a while and might be able to watch a football game or two- but not for long, if we can help it! Hehe....

Also, last just two days ago Eric's good friend Michael Kamen passed away from a very sudden heart attack. Eric had worked with Michael on movies such as The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and Splitting Heirs. He had met Michael back in the 70's when Eric was trying to get a movie version of The Pirates of Penzance going.

Just a bit of Eric info here...
This Tuesday Hollywood Homicide is due out on DVD and VHS. Eric has about an entire minute in the film, lol. Very small cameo on his behalf.
Also, the Greedy Bastard Tour kicked off Friday night in Rutland up in Canada. Eric has started writing a journal of his day by day events on the tour.

Monty Python.... the fandem keeps growing. And on October 7th, the Pythons will release their final book, The Pythons written by The Pythons. The book, which will be 360 pages long and sell for around $60, will feature how the Pythons met, the Pythons' childhoods, life in college, living in the times of Flying Circus, what it felt like to become stars, Graham Chapman's death, the Aspen reunion, and interviews from the Pythons themselves. The book is, of course, written by all of the Pythons including some little "tidbits" from Chapman. The book will also include over 1,000 photos and illustrations. This will not want to be missed, it's the perfect addition to any Python/Eric Idle fan's collection! The book will be in stores in Europe (US, I'm not sure, danggit) and on websites such as Barnes and Noble and Amazon.

Well, we've got a bit of news today!
First off, after a long silence and suspense, Eric FINALLY announced the broadway musical that he and John Du Prez have been working on over the past few years: SPAMELOT. SPAMELOT will be showing in Spring of 2005 and will be based on the Python's most famous movie, The Quest For The Holy Grail. It will include a whole new score and include two songs from the original film. And even though it is now titled as SPAMELOT, on Eric's tour he will be asking his fans if they have any other suggestions for a name. Casting will begin soon.
But wait, there's more!
We just had The Meaning of Life come out on special edition DVD, but now Holy Grail is coming out on COLLECTORS EDITION DVD. Personally, I do not see why they are doing this because this two disk set will be including all of the exact same material as the special edition Holy Grail DVD did EXCEPT for a book with the complete screenplay. Bit weird.
HOLD ON, WE AREN'T FINISHED YET! (Haha)
Finally, finally, FINALLY the dates and venues of Eric's The Greedy Bastard Tour have been announced. They are the following:

It's just a guess, but I believe he's going to many of the places that he did NOT go to on his first tour. Sadly, he's not coming to Salt Lake, so if I'm going to be able to see him, off to Vegas I will go! It's a bit heart-breaking that he isn't going to very many of the Western states at all, gosh danggit. Oh well. I'll know in a week whether or not I'll be able to squeeze myself down to Las Vegas! If I can't go though, I'm sure that there will be many happy fans who will and who'll have a blast!

Here are some tidbits that you may find fascinating.
Today is Tuesday, the second of September, and guess what I got to do? Yes, I, Diane, got to be in a live internet chat with the wonderful, talented... JOHN CLEESE!!! Yes, I know many of you out there are mumbling under your breath "So what?" Well, for me, it was quite exciting. I know it wasn't face to face, but I got to ask Mr. Cleese two questions, which he kindly answered, and to me, well... I was in awe. Ok ok ok, so I'd never done a "Live" internet chat with a celebrity before- give me a break! This is a fellow Python that we are talking about here! Anyways, I did chance upon saving the entire chat, but I'm not going to post it here. Sorry, hehe, I'll save it as a special treat for SPAM Club members!!!
But you may ask, "And WHY did John Cleese do an internet chat?" It's because he was helping to promote Universal's new release of "The Meaning of Life" on special edition DVD AT LONG LAST!!! The DVD will include many special features such a "An Introduction By Eric Idle" (*squeal*), Deleted Scenes, new sketches and songs, and a "Virtual Reunion." The DVD is out for sale as of TODAY, so run over to your local blockbuster and pick yourself up a copy! (Or buy it, haha.) Now see, aren't you glad you saved up all of those pennies for SOMETHING? :-D

Got some sad news all. I had believed that Eric had left America for Canada to begin shooting of The Remains of the Piano, but sadly, the movie has been canceled. At the last minute the movie company or whoever it was decided not to give Eric the money for the film, and thus, he had the call it off. This is devastating to me as a fan, but I know from an article I read about TROTP how excited Eric was to make this film. He said that "Perhaps we'll do it in a year or two." They've already made him put off the movie for about three years- how cruel of them to make him keep waiting, to make us keep waiting! But this is *sniff* bad news indeed. Perhaps someday The Remains of the Piano will be made- let us hope! The only good I can see from this slight disaster is that Eric is now treating us with that tour! I HAD been wondering how he had found the time for the tour... *shrugs* Hmm, oh well, lol.
8-22-03
As many know, The Rutles 2 has been completed since 2001, but Warner Brothers has just not released it. It is true that they just had the premiere for it, but it doesn't mean it's going to be out on DVD yet. So, us Idle fans need to raise our voices! I have found a petition where you can sign that goes to Warner Brothers telling them that we want our movie! Let the Rutles live! (lol) Here is a link for you, please sign!: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/R275760/

Well Eric fans, prepare yourselves for some spamtastic news... ERIC IDLE IS HAVING ANOTHER TOUR!!! It is going to be called The Greedy Bastard Tour and starts October 1st in Montreal and ends December 20th in Los Angeles. It is said to be a night of skits, sketches, silly things, and singing with works from Monty Python and his new comedy CD The Rutland Isles. People are encouraged to come dressed in outrageous costumes and ready to sing along at the top of their lungs. Wow, what fun, huh? I will post dates and venues of where it will all be playing as soon as I can find them! In the meantime- LEAP FOR JOY!!! (My prayers have been answered! LOL)
8-18-03
Well, Eric is no longer in America as of today. He is now in Canada along with the rest of the crew for The Remains of the Piano and it's their first day of filming. GOOD LUCK ERIC!!!! I can't wait to see it when it comes out in theatres! :) As most of you already know, The Remains of the Piano is the first movie Eric has written, directed, and acted in since the two Rutles films. TROTP is going to be a spoof on the Merchant Ivory films, and from what I've read about it, sounds like it's going to be pretty funny!
8-16-03
Today was the long-anticipated Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch premiere. SPAM Club member Victoria was lucky enough to actually GO to it and MEET Mr. Idle HIMSELF!!! Congratulations Victoria, we all seriously envy you! You can view a picture of her with Eric in the Eric As Himself Gallery and in our message forum.
12-22-03
Well, I am now back from my trip to see the lovely Mr. Idle (who was as overly kind as he could be) and despite how bad I want to get The Rutland Isles done, I've decided to refrain from it until I have the CD and listen to it so my knowledge of it is greater. (Knowledge? Phht...) Anyways, I will have the CD by Xmas, so about a week after I'll begin on the real work for it. Sorry for the delay!
I am planning on having the DDF Issue #4 go out either Xmas Eve or Xmas Day, so if you'd like to contribute an article or anything at all, now is the prime time to do so! Things such as Christmas wallpapers and pictures are cute, blah blah blah.
Not too awful much else. I'm tired of rushing on this every single day, so I'm slowing it down a bit for the holidays. Soon, though, I plan to do a lot of advertising and get word of the site out, so if you'd like to help me out here, it'd be greatly appreciated!
12-7-03
- Change the Idleography page a bit
- Add the reviews
- Get more quotes
- The Rutland Isles Section (the biggest thing left)
- Finish adding the fanfiction
- Issue #3 on this page and Issue #4 written
- Update the Idle Calendar
That may sound like a lot, but compared to what I DID have left, it's gone down considerably in size. I'm quite happy. I wanted to have everything complete before December 16th, but like I suspected, that's simply not going to happen. That's OK though, I'm just happy with what I have. It's more than what I thought I would.
And I'm sorry about the delay for Issue #4. It was supposed to have been sent last week, but instead I sent out an e-mail to the SPAM Club saying that due to the fact that I was so busy, I was going to make a holiday issue instead for Christmas and New Year's.
11-20-03
One word- stress. I am going to see Eric in less than 24 days, and I want the site to be complete, yet I won't be able to work on it all next week nor any after the 13th because that is when I leave for Sunny California. Ack! What to do??? I am working like mad, that's what. And sorry folks, but I decided just to stick to one version- three, even two, was too many versions for my liking. Maybe I'll make another version again someday, but not now. I'd rather just get the pages built and have them looking halfway decent. I have decided upon my blue/purple/white version simply because I like it best, and that's what others have told me as well.
Also, I am giving Mr. Idle a giftbasket from the SPAM Club so if you are a SPAM member, PLEASE SEND ME SOMETHING!!!! *gets on knees, begs* Simply e-mail me saying that you have whatever you're going to send ready, and I'll give you my address. If you just want to send a letter in an e-mail to me, that's fine too. Just please everyone, send some stuff! Show Eric how much you appreciate him and care! I don't want to give him an empty basket and say that everyone was too lazy, now, do I?
If you like wallpaper and buttons, that page (which is on Pointed Sticks and Nudges) should be up by tomorrow. I'm just adding the finishing touches to it. Fanmail has also already been added to that page, and the Thank Yous is being slowly completed.
I'm chugging along as usual. I think I'll die of happiness when everything is done.
10-20-03
Work, work, work. I promise you, I've been killing myself trying to perfect this site. I came up with (what I thought was) a brilliant plan to create three versions of the site, and instead I have found it's 3 times the updating! I'm not saying I can't handle it, no no no, it's just not very much fun to go back and redo each section three times, one with a black background, one with white, one with er... something else. Pages like the quotes, the stories, and the calendar will just remain with one background. Same goes with this- I am NOT making three versions of this, oh no! But I do hope that everyone likes my numerous layout ideas... if not, please people- SPEAK UP BEFORE I GO INTO ALL OF THE EFFORT!!! lol
So if you all were wondering (HAH) were I was (HAH!!!) I have been here, exhausting myself. No, don't give me crap about, "How can it be tiring? You're on a bloody computer!" Well, believe me, it tires me. (How old am I again? 73?) Mmmmmm.... *looks to ceiling*
Like I said though, been doing lots of good "stuff." I added pics to the Eric As Himself gallery, the Miscellaneous gallery, and I created an entirely new gallery, The Greedy Bastard Tour gallery. So BTW, if you went to the tour or are going to, please take some pictures for this section! :)
10-5-03
Today I sent out Issue #2 of the DDF. I've also added a link for it below. It took me forever to write that up, wow! lol But there is some good reading in it, as well as important reading. I am considering having those who cannot go to the tour send me letters/cards/small gifts to present Mr. Idle when I see him on Dec. 16th in San Luis Obispo. (SO EXCITED!!!) More on this is in Issue #2.
Sorry that I haven't been working very much the past week, been busy, though I have been working some on the quotes and SPAM club pages, yada. I have also taken Eric's Greedy Bastard Tour journal and uploaded it on the quotes page. It's quite fascinating and funny- I advise you to check it out.
9-27-03
Whew. I am exhausted. I've sat on my arse all day Friday and all day today working on the site, and I finally got some more stuff done. The Say No More section is open AT LAST! Hopefully everything on the Eric Sounds page will work correctly, but it was growling at me a bit. Also, I know I don't have many Quotes up yet, but let me tell you, it's a pain in the arse to sit down on your bed with a pencil and paper and rewind the same scenes over and over and over and over again so you can get every quote exactly right. *sigh* I just rented 102 Dalmations yesterday as well, so three guesses as to what I'll be doing tomorrow... lol.
I also have redone the Eric Flicks page and made it into three seperate sections- Idleography, The Idle Calendar, and Movie Mistakes. I'm quite proud of my calendar, actually. I don't know about you, but I think it rocks. ;) I have put all of Eric's Greedy Bastard Tour dates on it as well as the dates, times, and channels for different Eric movies playing on the telly.
Before the weekend is over I hope to get some more quotes and reviews added to the pages, and perhaps begin working on Pointed Sticks And Nudges and The Rutland Isles, but TRI is definitely going to take some time.
9-24-03
I've been slow to work on the site the past few days- sorry! But I have done a couple of things. I added four new pics to the Eric As Himself Gallery. I also completed the Eric Sounds page which will go onto the Say No More section. However, I was trying to work out a couple of bugs in the MP3s, so if some of the files or songs don't work for you for any reason, please notify me! (Once the page is linked, of course, lol.)
I have also decided that due to my time frame of day, I am just too busy to make the Daily Dirty Fork newspaper once-every-two-weeks. It will have to be monthly. Sorry, I apologize! So for those of you who were curious where Issue #2 is, it will be out sometime in the first week of October, I promise! (If not, you are allowed to attack me with a banana.)
Also, there are actually some things to look at on the Bright Side of Life page now! Cheri has kindly sent me some of her fanfiction to put on the page. I've been slowly adding it bit by bit, but you can now view a couple of her stories and look at two very cute sprites Chris has made!
Next, for those who haven't checked the SPAM Club page lately, we now have 12 members. Part of the SPAM club is virtual parties, and so, I have decided, we will hold our first party when we reach 15! That's only three more members! :) At the meeting we will discuss Eric (naturally), the Greedy Bastard Tour, and some information about the club itself. (AKA official buttons, interenet meetings, activities, etc.)
Last, but not least, I was looking at the site on some other computers and was aghasted. It looked awful- partially because the computer's site setting viewer was set at 1000x800 or something like that when mine is set at 850X700. If your computer is set at 1000, ack, I'm sorry, I advise you to change it to 800, it looks MUCH nicer!!!! If your computer simply cuts out part of the pages.... urgh.... I'm trying to get things fixed.... :(
Oh, and, BTW, if anyone knows of a good computer DVD player that makes screenshots/screencaps BESIDES PowerDVD, please PLEASE PLEASEEEE tell me!!! (And I'll be your best friend FOREVER! LOL)
9-19-03
I was debating it but I decided I like the new layout and so I will keep it. A lot of the pages will need to be updated and changed, and so patience is highly appreciated as of right now. I know that many things aren't looking right or are not fixed, yada, ect., and I know, I'm working on them! (*sigh* But oh, there are just too few hours in one day!)
I've also been trying to think of what to put into the Pointed Sticks and Nudges page, and here is what I came up with:
-Buttons
-Wallpaper
-How To Throw The Ultimate Python Party
-Shopping Spree
-A List of All Eric Idle Movies/Shows Playing This Month
More will be added to the list if I can think of anything, or, if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!
Also, I've changed a few pictures and background and such on the forum and guestbook. I think they look a little bit nicer now.
And to those SPAM Club members- keep your eyes peeled for Issue #2 of the DDF!
9-16-03
After much thought and deliberation, I have decided to add another section to the site: Pointed Sticks and Other Assortments. This page will be a compilation of anything that doesn't belong on any of the other pages. For example: fan mail, buttons, a suggestion box, etc. If you know of something that would be good in Pointed Sticks, please let me know!
9-14-03
I was a bit bored today and decided that I really did like my main page layout, so, I completely re-did it. It now has a frame in the middle of the page so every page that you go to within the site will be right there. I did this because not only did I think that it might look nicer, but also because it would make it a lot quicker and easier to load for those of you out there with extremely slow computers. However, if I find that people do not like my new layout, I'll make another one, but PLEASE answer the poll at the bottom of the main page!
I know that I still have two more sections to make for the site (The Rutland Isles and Say No More) but I've been going through, trying to clean some things up a bit. Because I changed the main page layout, I might be changing some of the other pages as well just a bit. Nothing drastic- I'm just trying to look more professional. I want to have a site where my visitor will want to come back often!
Also, we will FINALLY soon have some fanfiction up on the Bright Side page, thanks to Cheri! I have also started my own first Idle fanfiction of Nuns on the Run titled Gotta Have Hope. It's a pretty good little story so far- it's written as the sequel to the movie, beginning right on the airplane as they are flying to Rio. I only have 20 pages so far though, so I really don't know what will happen, hehe. *evil grin*
One last thing. A little over a week ago I sent out the first issue of the DDF, which included games and a poll or two. But I am disappointed. Only ONE person replied to the DDF!!! :( I worked extremely hard on the first issue, and I thought that it came out pretty nice, but if people are not going to do any of the games or interaction on the newsletter, or even give me a comment or two, well... I don't want to stop writing it, but if people don't like it.... do you catch my drift? Sorry to suddenly go so negative, it was just a bit of a disappointment was all!
9-10-03
Issue #1 has been added to the bottom. At first I was going to put a password on the page so that only SPAM members could read it, but I decided to have it open to the public instead because I worked so hard on it, lol.
Also added 5 news pictures- 2 to the Eric As Himself Gallery from the Rutles 2 Premiete and 3 from the movie The Rutles.
By the way, if anyone has some good movie quotes from Splitting Heis, Nuns On The Run, Baron Muchansen, Mr. Toad's Wild Adventuire, etc., please send them to me, because I'm going to be working on the Say No More pages here real soon.
9-6-03
At LONG last the Idle Wild pages are DONE!!! Yes! I was getting tired of working on them, lol. Please do go and check them out!
Today I also sat my butt down and instructed myself to send Issue #1 of the DDF, so SPAM members, check your mail! I worked hard on it to make it a good quality newsletter, so I hope you will like it! I will also soon begin making a copy of Issue #1 to put in the Previous Issues section below!
9-3-03
Yes, I know that there has suddenly been a quiet period where nothing seems to be updated, nothing new. Well, I have been working, just nothing can show from it yet. The Idle Wild pages are taking a lot longer than I thought, and my server likes to act wacked out once in a while as well. The Idle Wild pages (the games section) should be up sometime this weekend. Out of the 12 games/entertainment available, I only have four left to complete. Not too bad, eh? Also, this week the FIRST issue of the DDF will be going out to those who have signed up for the SPAM Club's mailing list. I don't know exactly what day though. Yes, I'm all too helpful.
More news coming soon. Drink some coffee while you're waiting.
8-26-03
Haven't done much. Finished the Adopt An Eric page at http://www.eric-idle.com/adoptaneric.html. Usually I don't give the seperate pages out until the entire section is done, but since this is a fun little page, thought I might as well give the link now. Also added Quest For Camelot pictures to the Miscellaneous Gallery. I'll be working on the sounds/midi pages next I believe.
8-25-03
Today I completed the Don't Be Idle pages which consist of this page, my little biography page, and Eric's biography.
8-24-03
After a mass of confusion and difficulties with the HTML, I have finally uploaded The Official Eric Idle Fanlisting to my site and will now be hosting it for Angela. You can now view the fanlisting at http://www.eric-idle.com/ericfanatic. If you haven't already joined, you need to!
I have also begun working on the Idle Wild pages, and once I finish writing Eric's biography, the Don't Be Idle pages will be complete.
8-22-03
Well, some good news. My server is finally fixed and I have uploaded my new sitebuilder correctly at last. I don't like it as much as my old one, unfortunatly, but hey, it works. I will be working hard to get the pages updated and looking nice. Sorry about the delay!
Today I also added two new SPAM Club members, Cheri and Angela. I also added The Greedy Bastard Tour, The Life of Python, and two more books to the Eric Flicks page. I'm just trying to clean some things up a bit. ;)
8-20-03
Well, I've run into some problems. My server has created a whole new sitebuilder program that it wants me to upload, but when I try to upload it, it says that I don't have enough disk space when actually I have PLENTY!!! I have no clue what is going on, and why it's messed up, but hopefully I will get it fixed soon enough! For now, I am hoping with all my might that the old sitebuilder will still work long enough to get the new one working properly! *sigh*

I have started working on the Don't Be Idle pages, including this page. I hope to have them all finished by the end of the day, but that probably won't happen! :)
By the way, I plan on sending the first issue of the DDF to all SPAM Club members sometime in the first week of September. Please join the SPAM Club! All you need to do is send me an e-mail with a request to join and your first name- that's it! SPAM Club members get to have extra fun too. :-D
I am also in desperate need of any fanfiction or fanart!!! I need something to put on the Bright Side of Life page, seriously! It looks boring being empty, lol. I know there are many talented people out there, so come on, please send me some!

Today I completed the picture galleries, so Heaven's Idles is now open for viewing! There are currently seven galleries, and I may add more later. To save myself some time and disk space on my current server, I have built the actual galleries themselves on my old server. When all the other pages in Idleized Heaven are done, if I still have room available, I will transfer them over here. But for now, enjoy what I have put up!
